Department of Medicine and the Cardiovascular Institute at Stanford Medicine

CARDIO-ONCOLOGIST

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine and the Cardiovascular Institute at Stanford Medicine seeks a board-certified Cardiologist to join the faculty as Assistant, Associate or Professor in the Medical Center Line or University Tenure Line. Candidates should have expertise in Cardio-Oncology–an emerging field that aims to find a balance between oncologic efficacy and reducing adverse cardiovascular effects.

The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center Line are excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The candidate should be MD or MD/PhD, board certified in Cardiovascular Disease, with current basic science/translational science research expertise in cardio-oncology. Candidates’ research should focus on understanding the mechanisms underlying the cardiovascular toxicity of oncological treatments, with a goal of prevention and treatment of CV complications from cancer therapy. Research areas can include but not limited to the following: issues pertaining to cardiovascular toxicity from cancer therapy; unexpected or unusual presentations of a disease or medication adverse reaction; new associations or variations in disease processes; presentations and management of new and emerging diseases; unexpected associations between diseases or symptoms; and findings that shed new light on the pathogenesis of a disease or an adverse effect. Additionally, we are seeking a candidate who is an outstanding clinician and is a nationally recognized or upcoming clinical and academic leader in the field. Given the multidisciplinary nature of cardio-oncology, we are particularly interested in a dynamic leader who is able to build a clinical and translational program.

The Department of Medicine, School of Medicine, and Stanford University value faculty who are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates may optionally include as part of their research or teaching statement a brief discussion of how their work will further these ideals.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, statement of research interests and the names of three references (who will not be contacted without your permission) to search committee chair, Dr. Hannah Valentine at: https://apptrkr.com/2298334
