About Maria Veronica Camara dos Santos, MD
Maria Veronica C. Santos, MD, is the Coordinator of the Pediatric Cardio-Oncology Group of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology and the Brazilian Society of Pediatric Oncology. Dr. Santos graduated in Medical Sciences from University of Pernambuco, Brazil. She completed general pediatrics residency at the INAMPS Public Health System in Recife and pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Heart Institute of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Santos made her research fellowship in pediatric cardiology imaging through a scholarship from the British Council at Leicester University, UK. She got Titles of Specialist from the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics (Pediatrics) and Brazilian Society of Cardiology (Pediatric Cardiology and Echocardiography) and works on master’s degree at the Federal
University of Sao Paulo. Dr. Santos is certified in Cardio-Oncology by the International Cardio- Oncology Society (IC-OS).
Dr. Santos’s clinical and research interests focus on cardiovascular implications of chronic pediatric diseases, with special interest on pediatric cardio-oncology such as early recognition of cardiovascular complications related to childhood cancer treatment and survivorship program. She was the coordinator of the First Brazilian Pediatric Cardio-Oncology Guidelines and the Brazilian Position Statement on the Use of Multimodality Imaging in Cardio-Oncology, and co-author of the Brazilian Cardio-Oncology Guidelines. Author of one cardio-oncology book. Co-author of cardio-oncology articles., pediatrics, pediatric cardiology and echocardiography book chapters and technical notes on pediatric cardiology. Involved in many educational programs in the Brazilian Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Oncology Societies.
Dr. Santos belongs to the leadership team of the IC-OS Pediatric Cardio-Oncology Working Group.
