This course reviews clinically important information regarding the management of cardiac and vascular diseases affecting patients with cancer and cancer survivors. The interactive, practice-based format includes case presentations and state-of-the-art lectures in recent and topical developments in this emerging field. The goal is to improve quality, safety and outcomes for patients within the dynamic and interactive educational experience. The current state of knowledge of common cardiovascular complications, such as heart failure (HF), myocardial ischemia, hypertension (HTN), thromboembolism, Arrhythmia associated with frequently used anticancer medications. This course is designed for clinical cardiologists, heart failure specialists, oncologists, hematologists, internal medicine specialists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and allied health personnel working in cardiology or hematology-oncology areas.

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Review the chemotherapeutic agents most commonly associated with cardiovascular risk.
  • Recognize the unique aspects of cardiovascular diseases associated with cancer and cancer therapy, including cardiomyopathies, myocarditis, pericarditis, amyloidosis, vascular disease, and cardiac masses.
  • Develop an approach to the complexities of managing cancer patients with cardiovascular disease through case based learning.
