The Brazilian Cardio-Oncology Group (GBCO) Third Anniversary

November 14, 2019

The Brazilian Cardio-Oncology Group (GBCO) is an informal working group, created in November 4th 2016, with the aim to help and share Cardio-Oncology experiences between cardiologists and oncologists in adult and pediatric areas through Brazil.

·        We use the social media (Telegram) to discuss daily clinical cases, share scientific cardio-oncology or related articles and specific announcements.

·        Today, we are more than 240 participants from every region and state of Brazil, with all stages of expertise.

·        Over that time, we could feel the growing number of colleagues interested to learn and work with Cardio-Oncology in different areas and places, such as hospitals, universities, clinical assistance, imaging, experimental areas, teaching and research activities within public and private services as well.

·        Many researches and publications have been developed.

·        Since then, many short and long term exchanges in different Brazilian, American and European institutions had happened by our colleagues, improving their skills.

·        Local and regional Cardio-Oncology meetings are now part of the majority of cardiology and oncology programs in our country.

·        A web meeting room was created into the Cure4Kids St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital website, where we present basic cardio-oncology topics, reviews and clinical discussions.

·        Since December/2018, we had the special opportunity to work together with ICOS on the Brazilian Chapter of ICOS Webinar Monthly Case Presentation.

·        Recently, a huge number of GBCO colleagues participated in the Global Cardio-Oncology Summit (Oct.3-4, São Paulo, Brazil) with a strong interactivity with the world cardio-oncology icons.

Much more actions are to come with tireless efforts to keep this union the main goal of helping our oncologic patients.
