About Dr Sohaib Nazir, MBBS BSc (Hons)PhD FRCP FHEA FICOS FESC
Dr. Sohaib Nazir is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital and a Clinical Senior Lecturer at King’s College London.
He is the Deputy Director of the Cardio-Oncology Centre of Excellence at the Royal Brompton Hospital, which was awarded Gold Accreditation by the International Cardio-Oncology Society.
As a pioneer in advanced cardiac imaging, Dr. Nazir is formally accredited in echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and cardiac CT by leading professional bodies. He has also developed novel techniques utilising hybrid PET-MRI imaging, positioning him at the forefront of cutting-edge medical technologies aimed at improving patient care.
He is leading on a number of clinical studies related to multimodal imaging in cardio-oncology and coronary artery disease. More recently, as part of a team effort at King’s College London, his team was awarded with a £13million grant from the Medical Research Council to install one of the UK’s two Total Body PET scanners, which represents a new era for next generation imaging. He hopes to use this in the future to improve diagnosis and treatment for patients.
In addition to his clinical and research endeavours, Dr. Nazir is dedicated to medical education and training. He supervises fellows and research students at King’s College London and has received recognition for his excellence in teaching, including the award for best clinical teacher at St George’s University of London in 2015. Furthermore, he plays a pivotal role in designing and delivering educational programs, including serving as the module co-lead for the Clinical Applications of Medical Imaging in the MSc in Healthcare Technologies course at King’s College London.
