About Carrie Lenneman, MD, MSCI
Dr. Carrie Lenneman is a native of South Carolina. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree at University of the South in Sewanee TN, and her medical degree at the Medical University of South
Carolina in Charleston SC. She completed internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Vanderbilt University, where she also served as Chief Cardiology Fellow. While at Vanderbilt, she
obtained her Masters of Science and Clinical Investigation and began research in the field of cardio-oncology for three years. She was recruited to University of Louisville as the Director of Cardio-Oncology where she also served at the Associate Program Director for the Cardiology Fellowship Program. In 2017, she was recruited to University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) to found the Cardio-Oncology program at the 3 rd largest public hospital in the U.S. Carrie is active member of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) – as a Cardio-oncology section and participant in ICOS. She enjoys teaching fellows and house- staff and awarded several teaching accolades including “Research Mentor of the Year” and “Faculty of the Year” (2016-2017, University of Louisville). Carrie has built a dynamic cardio-oncology program at UAB where UAB’s Cardio-Oncology program is recognized as a Cardio-oncology Center of Excellence.
