About Hugo R. Martinez, MD
Dr. Martinez was born in Mexico and obtained his medical degree from the University of Puebla. After graduating, he moved to Houston, TX, to join the Cardio-Genetics team at Texas Children’s Hospital in 2008 as a clinical researcher. He completed his residency in Pediatrics from the University of Texas Medical Branch, his Cardiology fellowship training at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indiana, and his additional transplant/mechanical circulatory support/heart failure training from the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
He is clinically devoted to managing the spectrum of congenital and acquired advanced heart failure and heritable/genetic cardiovascular diseases. Academically, he has been involved in clinical studies and extramural support investigating novel modalities to counteract heart failure, exploring cardio-genomic profiles, and evaluating therapy-related cardiovascular dysfunction in children and young adults with cancer.
