About Mayret Gonzalez, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP
Mayret Gonzalez, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP practices as the clinical pharmacy specialist in Cardio-Oncology and Genitourinary clinics at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Gonzalez received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2018 from Nova Southeastern University. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency at Homestead Hospital, within Baptist Health South Florida. She is an adjunct professor at Larkin University where she teaches Arrhythmia Pathophysiology and Pharmacotherapy lectures. She is currently an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the International Cardio-Oncology Society (ICOS), and the ICOS Pharmacy Working Group.
Dr. Gonzalez is an active contributor to the Miami Cancer Institute Baptist Health South Florida's Cardio Oncology Joint Operating Committee. She practices alongside her Cardio-Oncology providers by proactively reviewing high risk patients for cardio-protection interventions and promote standardization in prevention/monitoring algorithms for key agents. Examples of these are risk stratification for patients on BTK inhibitors, management and prevention of fluoropyrimidine vasospasm, monitoring of cardiac toxicities with the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors, and others. Lastly, Dr. Gonzalez remains active in her Oncology clinical practice by engaging with providers and patients in the management of GU neoplasms ensuring safe and effective care is provided.
