About Sean Xia Xern Tan, MBBS, PhD, FRACP
Dr Sean Tan is a Cardio-Oncologist and Cardiac Imaging Specialist based in Melbourne, Australia.
Sean graduated from Monash University in 2014 with First Class Honours and completed his post-graduate medical and specialist cardiology training in Melbourne in 2022. During his training, he was recognised with the John Burgess Award for Clinical Excellence. He proceeded to complete a Cardiac Imaging and Cardio-Oncology Fellowship at the Victorian Heart Hospital in 2024.
Sean undertook his PhD through the Victorian Heart Institute at Monash University, evaluating cardiovascular risk identification and prevention in cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors. He is the recipient of the prestigious National Health and Medical Research Council and National Heart Foundation joint postgraduate scholarship and has also been recognised with an Emerging Researcher Fellowship and a Clinical Academic Fellowship from Monash Health.
Sean is also an avid educator and is the Monash University Medical Student Program Lead for the Victorian Heart Hospital. He was twice awarded the Monash University Excellence in Clinical Supervision Award for medical student teaching in 2020 and 2022.
