About Amit Varma, MD, PhD, FACC, FHFSA
Born and raised in Southern California. Migrated to the east coast for undergraduate and medical school. Stayed for residency, fellowship and graduate training - PhD in physiology and biophysics. After cardiology fellowship decided to do one final year in advanced heart failure and transplant before moving up to PA to start my post-training career. Now 10 years later, I helped start and build the Cardio-Oncology program from the ground up with the help of mentors from Univ of Penn (Drs. Carver, Ky and Fradley), colleagues from my training days at VCU (Drs Abbate and Hess), and hope to continue to expand and improve the care we provide our cancer patients in the community.
