About Louise Guolla, MD MSc FRCPC
Dr. Guolla is a Clinical Scholar in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and completing a PhD in Health Research Methodology, associated with the Clinician Investigator Program and supported as a CIHR Vanier Scholar, at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Her clinical interests include malignant hematology, emerging therapies, survivorship, Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) oncology, and improving care for LGBTQ+ patients. Her current research foci include the prediction of cardiovascular late effects of cancer therapies, particularly in AYA patients, and the detection of and impacts of body composition changes as a result of leukemia and other pediatric cancer therapies. As a competitive athlete for much of her life, she brings tenacity, dedication, and a team-focused perspective to all of her endeavours. Dr. Guolla is the current Chair of the Young SIOP Network and board member of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP). Through her work in SIOP, she has led the development of the Young SIOP Rising Star Award, defined equitable international membership fee categories, spearheaded numerous educational and membership-oriented activities hosted by the network, and published research on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on early career pediatric oncology professionals.
