About Paula Carvalho Pinto Guimarães, MD
Dr. Paula Carvalho Pinto Guimarães graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, with a subspecialization in Echocardiography.
Her interest in Cardio-Oncology began in 2017, during her Echocardiography residency, when she performed cardiac imaging for young breast cancer patients who developed heart failure. Witnessing their challenges — including the interruption of cancer treatment and the onset of cardiological symptoms — deeply moved her and inspired her to pursue this field further.
She currently practices as an Echocardiographer at a private clinic and two public hospitals and serves as a Cardiologist at the São Francisco Hospital, where she is the founder and lead physician of the hospital’s Cardio-Oncology Service, which she initiated in 2018, overseeing its design, structuring, and implementation.
She completed a Postgraduate Program in Cardio-Oncology at the Escola Paulista de Ciências Médicas (EPCM) in partnership with the Brazilian Clinical Research Institute (BCRI) (2021–2022), and holds the International Cardio-Oncology Certification from the International Cardio-Oncology Society (ICOS) (2022).
Dr. Guimarães strongly believes in accessible, high-quality healthcare for all.
