International Cardio-Oncology Society (FICOS)

All current members of the International Cardio-Oncology Society who have passed the Certification Exam are eligible to apply to become a Fellow of ICOS (FICOS). As a FICOS, your professional achievements and expertise in cardio-oncology are being recognized. Fellowship is one of the most distinguished designations that ICOS offers its members. Your vital participation and leadership in the cardio-oncology community are also being recognized. Fellows are those who have made exceptional contributions to our mission of advancing the cardiovascular care of cancer patients and survivors.

Your application to Fellowship will be reviewed by the ICOS Board of Directors on a rolling basis.

The Value of FICOS

Earning ICOS Fellowship is a major career achievement as it indicates your advanced contributions to the field. In addition to a minimum number of years of clinical experience, one must also pass the certification exam in cardio-oncology, and have demonstrated competence through contributions in the medical literature. It is the combination of these elements that demonstrates a special expertise in the field.

Qualifications for FICOS

Three tracks for applications exist and the required documentation depends on the application track chosen. Please note that all supporting documents must be provided in English.All applicants must first pass the IC-OS Board Certification Exam in cardio oncology.

Clinical Excellence

CLINICAL EXCELLENCE

Candidates must be members of IC-OS and have passed the IC-OS Board Certification Exam.

Must have at least three years of Cardio-Oncology based experience

a copy of academic diploma (MD., PhD. or equivalent): If not originally in English, translation is mandatory

Attach Bibliography of Publications (may be included in CV): Minimum 3 publications in which you were a participant, with at least 1 where the candidate is the first or last author (original articles, including editorials, reviews, case reports)

TWO supporting letters of reference:

One supporting letter from an IC-OS Board or Supervisory Committee member

One supporting letter from a Fellow of the IC-OS.

A copy of your CV (brief summary of your career experience ONE PAGE or less)

SCIENTIFIC EXCELLENCE

Candidates must be members of IC-OS and have passed the IC-OS Board Certification Exam.

A copy of academic diploma (MD., PhD. or equivalent): If not originally in English, translation is mandatory

A Bibliography of Publications (may be included in CV): Minimum 10 publications in which you were a participant, of these, at least 5 publications with the applicant as first or last author (original articles, including editorials, reviews, case reports)

TWO supporting letters of reference:

One supporting letter from an ICOS Board or GCOS Executive Committee member

One supporting letter from a Fellow of the ICOS.

A copy of your CV (brief summary of your career experience ONE PAGE or less)

Practice Excellence

PRACTICE EXCELLENCE

Candidates must be members of IC-OS and have passed the IC-OS Board Certification Exam.

Practitioners in the Professional Register of the country in which they practice or Allied Professions with a minimum of three years of practical cardio-oncology based care can apply for the IC-OS Fellowship in practice excellence.

You must have:

Three years or more of practice experience

A copy of nursing, pharmacy or related diploma

A Bibliography of Publications (may be included in CV): Minimum 2 publications in which you were a participant

Letter(s) certifying Hospital Appointment(s)

TWO supporting letters of reference:

One supporting letter from a Board Certified member of a related professional Society.

One supporting letter from a member of one of the IC-OS committees

A copy of your CV (brief summary of your career experience ONE PAGE or less)

Candidates must be members of IC-OS and have passed the IC-OS Board Certification Exam.
